mountains

I spend a lot of time painting both the mountains of California and Santa Fe New Mexico. I find the emotion of each place to be quite different. The hills and mountains of northern California are moody and changing. Lush green in spring, parched and yellow in the summer, and snowy in the winter. The mountains in California feel more intimate. The mountains around Santa Fe feel luminous, the light and atmosphere hangs in the air with large plains leading up to high mountain ranges beneath giant skies.
